Solid wood dining tables in detail – March collection | Wild Mango Designs
What only becomes apparent on site – details of our March collection
As the arrival of our March delivery draws nearer, it becomes increasingly clear which decisions truly pay off in everyday life. Many of the qualities of these pieces of furniture can't be planned from photos – they only become apparent when the finished pieces are standing in front of you.
This article therefore focuses less on dimensions or categories, but rather on details that were particularly important to us in this collection.
Plate thickness, weight and presence
With large solid wood tables, it's not just the length or width that determines the overall effect, but above all the thickness of the tabletop. Too thin can quickly appear generic, while too thick can make the table look heavy – both visually and in the room.
For this latest delivery, we deliberately focused on strengths that allow the wood to shine without being overpowering. The difference is particularly noticeable with very wide planks: the table appears calm, sits solidly in the room, and yet remains practical for everyday use.
This balance is one of the reasons why we don't scale many measurements arbitrarily, but select them specifically.
Natural edges that do not appear decorative
Natural edges are not a stylistic choice, but rather a result of the material. In the production of this collection, we consistently ensured that edges were not "embellished" or artificially smoothed.
This also means that not every plank is suitable. We deliberately excluded some slabs because their edges, while striking, were also uneven. In the end, we were left with those pieces where the natural line enhances the overall look – rather than dominating it.
Especially with large tables, this creates a natural effect that doesn't seek attention.
Extension mechanisms that you can't feel
With extendable solid wood tables, the biggest challenge isn't the technology itself, but its impact on the overall feel. A table that feels technical quickly loses its sense of calm.
In this delivery, we again opted for mechanisms that are barely noticeable in everyday use. No visible rails, no disruptive transitions. The table remains a table – even when extended.
This is constructively complex, but it pays off in the long run.
Round tables: Stability only becomes apparent in the room.
With large round tables measuring 150 cm in diameter, many things only become apparent once they are set up. Stability, legroom, and proportions can be planned – whether they actually work only becomes clear once they are in the room.
That's precisely why we don't mass-produce these models. Each version is carefully designed to ensure the table appears light without sacrificing stability.
Anyone who likes round tables knows: when they work, they are almost irreplaceable.
Why we don't show everything
This delivery also has details that we're not consciously highlighting. Not because they're secret, but because good furniture doesn't need explaining.
Some things only become apparent after months of use: how surfaces feel, how edges change, how naturally a piece of furniture becomes part of the room.
This quality cannot be staged – it arises through use.
Viewings from March
Once the delivery has arrived in full, the furniture can be viewed in the showroom. Some pieces will only be available once.
If you are currently planning to redesign your dining area or are specifically looking for a large solid wood table, it is worth experiencing this collection in person.
